Green chemistry is a critical approach to sustainable pharmaceutical development, focusing on reducing the environmental impact of drug manufacturing processes. This review article discusses the principles of green chemistry as applied to the pharmaceutical industry, highlighting key innovations, methods, and technologies that enhance sustainability in drug production. It also explores the challenges faced in implementing green chemistry practices and provides recommendations for overcoming these hurdles. Finally, the future directions for green chemistry in the pharmaceutical sector are presented, including emerging trends such as green solvents, waste reduction strategies, and the integration of biocatalysis in drug manufacturing. This review aims to encourage the adoption of environmentally friendly practices, fostering sustainable pharmaceutical development while maintaining the efficacy and safety of pharmaceutical products.
